With Gratitude : 2024

Reflecting on 2024 and feeling so fortunate to have another abundant year of doing all that we love - collaborating with our beautiful clients, all the pop-ups and events we were able to hold + attend, all the laughs (+ tears!), and all the connection and community. There was so much change and so many memories made. Here’s a look back at some of our highlights

January - We all began 2024 with a slow intentional month of reflection. We manifested new beginnings, closer connections, and pure hearts only. 2024 delivered.

In January Kate also got to attend a color class in Portland with Gabby Rose at 220 Salon. I’ve followed Gabby’s hair journey since she was in cosmetology school, so it was extra special to see her host her own independant education and I was honored to be there.

February - WE WELCOMED GABRIELLE BACK TO SIREN! All caps because we were EXCITED. Gabrielle spent 6 years with us before following her heart to California. After a couple years there, she came back to the PNW engaged to her man and ready to lay down roots in Vancouver, purchasing a gorgeous mid century home to remodel. We couldn’t be happier to have her back with us!

Also in February, we hosted our first Education of the year - a great Balayage Class at Siren with Denise Mahoney, owner of Colour Authority Salon in PDX.

March - We hosted a p o p p i n’ First Friday Event with Wilde Hart Custom Trucker Hats + Accessories Bar along with a Permanent Jewelry Bar. It was SO much fun creating custom Trucker Hats with Jazz - highly recommend booking her for special events! We love hosting events and this one really kicked off 2024 for us

April - This was a special month because we finally brought Reverie in to the Boutique Lineup. Read all about Reverie on the previous blog post! In a nutshell, Reverie is haircare for ALL humans. No matter your hair density or texture, their clean and innovative formulas nurture the integrity of your hair for unrivaled results. Reverie believes less is plenty and the collection reflects their desire to distill the nuances of haircare into a thoughtful curation of essentials. Made intentionally in California in small batches using skincare methodology + Reverie is Leaping Bunny Certified cruelty free vegan + gluten free, using only essential oils and no synthetic fragrances. Reverie is also Plastic Negative Certified and uses PCR glass bottles and 100% traceable post-consumer recycled plastic. We also offer a Refill Program for Milk, Mare, Botanical Shampoo + Nourishing Conditioner - so save those bottles! Siren has struggled a bit over the years finding haircare brands that truly align with our core values and integrity. Reverie truly feels like a perfect vibe fit with us.

Also in April - a trip to LA for Kate to attend a dream joint class with Daniel Mora + Erik Gutierrez, two of the most influential hairstylists that I have personally admired for many years. An intensive (and expensive) 8 hour class, it was packed to the brim in Erik’s beautiful salon in the Monrovia neighborhood of Los Angeles.. It was a bucket list class for me and it was so fun to experience.

May - After some time spent assisting at Siren, we were so excited that Laney became an official Siren taking her own clients!! If you have had the opportunity to meet her you’d know right away what a wonderful genuine soul she is. She brings such a fun free spirited vibe to our collective and we have been absolutely blessed by her presence. Laney is originally from the midwest and has found her home here in the PNW with her family + sweet kitty, Pickle. Book some self care with her - link below her bio on our main page + check out her website

June - UDEA joined the Boutique Lineup! UDEA Hair Supplements are a daily adaptogenic supplement that targets the root causes of thinning and shedding, while rejuvenating hair health from the inside out- giving you longer stronger fuller hair. The herbs, vitamins and minerals in this powerhouse blend are carefully calibrated at their most effective doses to address core deficiencies and improve hair’s appearance on a cellular level. We absolutely love this woman-owned brand and love providing only the best to our clients. Find them in our Lifestyle Boutique.

Also in June - We hosted Christina Carlson, owner of Marquee Salon on Broadway for a spectacular SOLD OUT Creative Shag Cutting Class! Christina is a super talented colorist + haircutter and does amazing editorial styling as well! She is an endlessly talented creative and has the best sense of humor to boot. She is also humble and adorable. Highly recommend having her in your life.

Also in June we Road Tripped to Coeur d’Alene, spending a couple days soaking up the sun around that gorgeous lake and attending a Creative Cutting Class with Dom Dom. The name might sound familiar- we carry his boar bristle Round Brushes, Velcro Hair Rollers and Texture Spray in the boutique! This was a bucket list class for Lynsey, he has been an influential stylist in her haircutting craft for years. We learned a ton and loved getting to hold his sweetie Frenchie Gus on our laps while Dom taught us all the hottest hair techniques.

July - Jordan found her way to us all the way from Maryland! This was extra special because we were both trusting vibes having never met in person and it just worked out soooo perfectly. We adore Jordan and she brings such wonderful grounding energy to everyone around her. Licensed since 2016, Jordan is well experienced in her approach to hair and wellness. She specializes in curls, haircutting + low maintenance color with a strong focus towards scalp health, clean beauty, and holistic wellness. She embodies the Siren Spirit and we love her for it. Book a session with her - link below her bio on our main page + check out her website

We also hosted a sold out Hairstylist focused Business class in July with Texas Based hairstylist educator Kristin Lumiere. This is a neglected aspect of our industry and we hope to host more opportunities for business education for entrepreneur stylists in the future.

Also in July, Siren celebrated 11 years *cue the tears* - I could write an entire blog post (or book) just on the meaningful journey a single year creates behind the scenes of salon ownership. In many ways it doesn’t seem possible that its been 11 years. Siren has held me through so many changes and milestones in my life. I’m a dreamer, and if someone tells me it’s not possible, I just double down and go for it anyway… huge shoutout to those that took a chance on a 25 year old girl with a massive dream and no business experience whatsoever. I have paid that forward in taking chances on many young entrepreneurs since. Every experience giving another entrepreneur a chance + supporting their growth has brought me so much perspective, joy and lessons over the years. Most have gone on to make me so proud to be a safe place for them to grow and follow their dreams. So grateful, inspired, in love, dedicated to + in awe of Siren and what we have all created together in another year of her existence. Siren is SO special.

August - Lynsey celebrated 9 YEARS with Siren. Lynsey and I have grown so much together and I really feel so incredibly lucky to spend so much time together over these years. Our friendship has been transformative and inspiring and I’m so grateful for another year of close growth and support together! Siren truly wouldn’t be what it is today without her presence.

Also in August Lynsey brought baby Halen in for her very first haircut!! It was absolutely adorable, she loved her spa day experience with mama at the shop, and we all swooned over her sweet and spicy visit!

We also had an overabundance of farm fresh eggs from Kate + Kelsey’s Farms all summer and they we were selling out regularly! Egg production is already started for 2025, so be sure to check the boutique for fresh 6 packs of both duck + chicken eggs. We also had the blessing of absolutely stunning bouquets for purchase all summer from Olive + Comb, Kelsey’s Farm! We are always expanding our homestead + holistic + bulk offerings. Keep checking in with us for what’s new in The Boutique!

Also in August - Kelsey, Laney and Kate took a day trip up to Tacoma to attend advanced technique cutting education with Anh Co Tran. He is a world renowned hairstylist that often works with celebrities, including sweet Anna Sawai and Selena Gomez. We love continued education and take any chance we can get to elevate our craft and keep ourselves inspired.

September - We hosted Simply Saige Charm Bar + Lucy Brook Clothing pop up for First Friday! This was such a fun event where we got to create our own charm necklaces and bracelets + shop Lucy Brook’s clothing pop up. We hosted Simply Saige again in February 2025 for a Galentine’s Charm Bar + Sparkly “Mimosas” on February 7th! It was another really fun time with her!

Also in September Kate was re-inspired to start rotating local art again in the salon, and I connected with Sarah Schrock-Dean to bless our walls for the remainder of 2024. She sold several prints during her time in the shop and we loved having color grace the walls again! If you are an artist seeking a space to showcase your art, please reach out! We would love to continue rotations.

Carino Mexican Specialty Coffee also had their grand opening in September and we’ve been drinking their espresso ever since- highly recommend giving them a visit, they are right around the corner from Siren on Main Street.

October - With my heart calling towards connection + wellness, we hosted our very first Sound Bath pop up. It was a wonderful meditation on a Sunday morning and was just the introduction to connection I was hoping for. We hosted a sold out event and this opened the door towards hosting more wellness based offerings.

Also in October, Kelsey’s 2 year anniversary with Siren! Kelsey was a beauty rep for several years in the PNW (and for us!) before deciding to get back behind the chair where her true passion lies. She worked closely with dozens of salons in the area so it was an absolute honor to be chosen as her salon home. In addition to color in the salon she also specializes in bridal hair + fills the salon with beautiful flowers and farm fresh eggs for purchase all summer long!

November - Another wellness based first for us - Yin Yoga + Meditation with Jess of Two Moons PDX. Connecting with Jess has brought me so much joy and inspiration. She has incredible offerings to our community and we continue to host with her regularly. Watch for more collabs on our events page throughout the year! Read more about Jess and her workshops here - www.twomoonspdx.com

December - We hosted our very first FREE Community Sound Healing Event with Jess! This is what I mean when I say Jess inspires me so much- she brings many of her offerings to the community on a donation basis so that ANYONE can attend regardless of financial circumstances. She believes everyone should have access to healing and enlightenment. I couldn’t agree more, and I absolutely love collaborating with her.
